taken
Taken is a ceramic vessel that centres a delicate window of woven fabric…a web-like structure inspired by the spider as a symbol of feminine power and ancestral craft. Within the weave, a rooted hand grows into a branch, clutching a medieval demon-insect, echoing the surreal symbolism of marginalia. This work reflects on the entanglement of women’s voices through time: how stories are spun, distorted, or seized. Drawing on the language of gossip, witchcraft, and the unseen systems of control, Taken invites the viewer into a liminal space…part trap, part tapestry, where beauty and danger intertwine.
